Ashbrook Open Day
Our Pony Club was asked at very short notice to help with a display at Ashbrook Equine Hospital on 16 July 2011
Once again we joined Cheshire Hunt North in a simplified version of the display we did last year at the Festival of the Horse called "All Things Pony Club". With only one practice we were ready to go.
On the day it was very wet but all went well. Emma reported that the horses were well behaved and we all looked very smart - once again a credit to the riding school. Well done to everyone.
Olympic Test Event Greenwich
On Tuesday 5 July 2011 Sarah went to Greenwich to watch the cross country section of the Test Event held at the new Olympic facilities.
I was delighted to be able to accept an invitation through the Pony Club to attend the cross country section of the Olympic test event at Greenwich on Tuesday of this week. Many of you, I am sure, will have seen some of the superb pictures and articles which appeared in the sports pages of the newspapers on Wednesday.
Having been one of those sceptical people who wondered about the wisdom of such a venue I was totally bowled over by how wonderful it all looked.
We watched approximately 40 riders negotiate the course which was shortened for the purpose of this trial. Riders came from all over the world. Some of the team members were riding horses with a little less experience than their Olympic mounts. The British Olympic team were present, some riding - the rest on foot, working hard doing press and TV interviews. There were many riders benefiting from the World Class Program also present and doing their bit.
It was nice to see everyone working very hard to make the event a success and promote equestrianism in general.
I know some of you are lucky enough to have got tickets for the Olympics and it will be a superb experience to enjoy.
