MRS Ponies Enjoy Time Out at Country Shows

Our Dartmoor and Welsh ponies have had a busy summer out at our local county shows in both ridden and inhand classes.

Teddy and Anna started the ball rolling in their first M&M ridden class at Warrington Show in May. It was a baking hot day and the show was very busy, but Teddy took it all in his stride and was placed second. This was a good warm-up for Cheshire, where he was entered in the HOYS qualifier class. At Cheshire his class was huge, and of an incredibly high standard. However, even though he wasn't placed he did a lovely show for the judges, and again behaved beautifully on the very busy showground. Once again, it was a roasting hot day, and for once Anna was very pleased that her class was at 8.30am!

Both Teddy and Oliver competed in the Inhand Dartmoor class at Cheshire and did well, with Teddy placing fourth and Oliver sixth. We also took Jack and Tuppence for the Inhand Welsh A class with Sue and Sarah C. Again, it was a massive class of a very high standard, and the boys were just out of the ribbons. They both thoroughly enjoyed their day out, and were interested in everything and everyone!

Teddy's last show of the season was Bakewell, and the weather could not have been more different! There had been torrential rain the day before, and the showground was a mud-bath that came up to the ankles in some places! After being towed into place by some of the cheeriest tractor drivers ever, we attempted to find the ring. The horsewalk was literally just mud, once coming almost to Teddy's knees!!! In the ring it was a little better, but going any faster than a slow canter was almost impossible. However, Teddy finished in second place and it was a nice, albeit rather damp, end to our season.

Well done to all four ponies, they were a credit to us at every show they attended both ridden and inhand. On balance we decided that we had been pretty lucky with the weather for our little show season - two out of three dry shows isn't bad, even if the Bakewell weather tried hard to cancel out the other two!
