Pony Club Summer Showjumping - June Competition

The weather might have been more like winter than summer, but the June PC showjumping competitors were not to be put off. The second comp of the series was held on Friday 27th June, with a good turnout of both riders and spectators.

The course for the evening was very 'twisty and turny', and required some thought as to approaches and getaways. Fast and furious wasn't necessarily going to guarantee a clear round this time!

The Novice riders are beginning to look increasingly like the Intermediate riders, and put in a number of faultless rounds. They were the last class to jump off, and had evidently been watching the Open section to work out the fastest turns. Thrid place went to Olivia Rowcliffe and Pip. Amelia Ward was just pipped at the post again, by only a fraction of a second, so she and Schuey took the second rosette, leaving George Duffill and Schuey in first place with a very whizzy clear!

Once again all riders in the Intermediates went through to the jump off, but there was one clear winner. Nothing seems to be able to stop Alexa Holland when she is jumping off, and she and Bruno clocked up the fastest time of the night to win their class. Second place went to Alice Evans and Truffle, with an impressive bit of riding from Alice on a pony she had never ridden before and is not the fastest of jumpers. In third were Maddie Curry and Mary, again a slower pony who managed to jump well round a twisty course.

In the Open class it was all about the turns, and each rider watched the one before with an eagle eye, hoping to knock a few seconds off the previous times. There were some 'interesting' angles, but only one can be victorious. Jenny Flynn has got into her stride over the bigger fences and did well to take third place with Benny. It was another close jump-off between Kristen Holland and Lydia Boyle-Chambers - the turns could not have been tighter! This time it was Kristen and Benny who won the class, with Lydia and Zak taking second.

Well done to all competitors, and a big thank you to the parents and spectators who assisted in moving the course inside during the downpour!
