Friday 26th October saw the second competition of our showjumping series. Even though the weather had become colder, plenty of riders and spectators were present on the night.
Emma built possibly the most challenging course yet, which required accuracy and lots of thinking ahead!
Due to the large number of riders competing in the Intermediate section this year, it has been decided to split the class into two. There are now Upper Intermediate and Lower Intermediate sections. Click here to
check the points table and see which section you are in! Points from the September competition have been adjusted accordingly.
Once again the Novice riders jumped first, although the trickier course proved testing. Four made it though to the main jump-off, and it was a close run thing, with Richard Hodgson just taking first on Little Boo, and Ben Webb in second, also on Boo. Third place went to
Ledicia Carp on Mary, who jumped a quick round for a bigger pony!
In what is now the Lower Intermediate section, three riders went to the jump-off. Chloe Gale and Max managed to take third despite an untimely fall just before the last fence.
It was then down to Martha Vernon on Tucker and Abbie Stockdale-Fisher with Bruno to battle for the red rosette. However, Bruno proved to be just seconds quicker than Tucker, leaving Martha in second place and Abbie in first.
The new Upper Intermediate class contained most of the competitive field from 2006, but this time there was a thorough shake-up of placings! All the riders made it into the
jump-off, but they had to ride hard for their points. Maddie Curry took third place with Spice. What they lacked in speed they made up excellently in turns and accuracy! Second place went to Alexa Holland and Schuey, who jumped a
neat, fast clear but weren't quite fast enough to catch Harry Vernon and Prince, who clocked up one of the fastest times of the evening!
In the Open class there was another exciting jump-off, with each time quicker than the one before. Claudia Ryan and Flint looked to have set a very fast time, but Danielle Gent
and Zak managed to go a few seconds faster, and then Kristen Holland and Flint managed to go a few seconds faster again! Claudia finished in third, with Danielle second and
Kristen in first! Well done to all of you.
