Mobberley at the Pony Club Championships

Our Pony Club teams have competed at the Championships for the past four years, and with great success! Mobberley members have taken part in Polocrosse, Centre Equitation and Horse & Pony Care, and this year we have already qualified for the Finals of the National Quiz!

The Centre Equitation Competition took place on 16 August 2011.

Representing MRS were Tiffany and Abby riding Benny and Claudia and Isobel riding Solo. The competition consisted of a dressage test followed by a jumping round.

Tiffany and Benny performed an almost foot-perfect test to achieve one of the top marks of the day. Abby, who was representing Mobberley for the first time, also completed a very accurate test.

In the senior section, Claudia rode Solo very well to get one of the best scores in her arena. Isobel also produced a good, accurate test, this being her first time at the Championships as well.

The girls then took part in the showjumping with good, stylish rounds.

When all the scores were added up the 23 teams taking part gathered for the presentations. Firstly, the individual places were announced with Abby coming 7th in her section, an excellent performance in her first competition. Tiffany won her section which was a fantastic achievement.

The four girls as a team took a very pleasing 5th place overall. Congratulations to everyone!

All our teams have done a fantastic job over the years, and the horses and ponies have always behaved impeccably as ambassadors for our Pony Club Centre. We look forward to taking part again in 2012!

Mobberley RS PC has had another excellent summer at the Championships. We have entered the Blue Cross Horse & Pony Care competition for the past three years, and in 2011 our team of Claudia, Kirsten and Alexa qualified for the national final.

For this competition teams of three Members have to demonstrate their practical and theoretical knowledge of equine welfare as required by The Pony Club tests. They are asked to show their ability to look after the welfare of the horse safely and with confidence.

The team came a fantastic 5th out of teams from all over the country and we were also the highest placed Pony Club Centre!

This is the first year we have entered the Area Quiz, and both our teams did us proud, with the 'B' section qualifying for the National Finals in April and the 'A' section winning the prize for Best Mascot with their polocrosse pony!

Well done to the qualifying team of Emily Goding, Katherine Maher, Hanja Dickinson and Isobel Narayan, and also to Rebecca Bartok, Natasha Gollins, Olivia Rowcliffe and Flossie Eastwood.

Our Quiz team came a fantastic fourth at the National Final out of 10 teams! A great day was had by all, many thanks to all the organisers and Moreton Morrell College.

This will be our fourth year competing at the Championships, and we have previously entered teams in several classes. As polocrosse has progressed here at Mobberley we have been able to expand and in 2010 we were able to take 9 players and riding school ponies to the national competition at Draycott, a Minis team and a Championship team, the first Centre to enter a full team of six!

All our players have had a fantastic time at the Championships, camping for two days and having full responsibility for their ponies as well as working as a team. Polocrosse itself helps improve the schooling of the ponies and the balance and flexibility of the riders, as well as also being a very sociable sport!
