Side Saddle Lessons

We have always thought how elegant and graceful side saddle riding looks and wondered what it feels like to ride that way. Would it be difficult to balance? How are you supposed to sit properly? What are those hook things on the side saddle called?

We felt we would like find out more about it and have a go ourselves. The problem was that it was difficult to find some lessons locally especially if you don't have your own horse or saddle.

At last we managed to book some lessons in Lancashire and had such a good time that we were bitten by the bug and wanted to ride more often like this.

So, over the past few months we have been busy acquiring side saddles and Emma and Gerry have been training with the Northern Side Saddle Group and the Side Saddle Association. We would like to say to both these groups how much we appreciate all their help and support.

We now have 6 saddles of different shapes and sizes which fit several of our horses and ponies. We have been pleased how quickly the horses and ponies have become used to the saddles. They look like they have been doing this all their lives!

During the half term holiday our Pony Club members had a chance to ride side saddle on April and Chester. As you can see below they had a great time.
